Home Training
Did you know that you can train your whole body effectively with little more than a mat and a set of dumbbells? There is absolutely no need to be a member of a gym in order to get your body fit and toned. By training at home you can also save time. You don’t need to ride around looking for parking, there’s no having to find a locker to hide away your valuables and you don’t have to stand in line waiting for any equipment. It is also easier for you to break your exercise sessions down into smaller bites of time. For instance, if you know that you only have 20 minutes available in the morning and 40 minutes available in the evening, you can do some exercises in the morning and then some again in the evening. You might not be able to fit two gym sessions in a day, but when you cut out traveling time by training at home it is much easier to do. The main obstacle to training at home is lack of self-motivation. If you go to gym you know you are more likely to train rather than do anything else, but when you go home there are millions of distractions. The phone, TV, partner, children, dogs… the list is endless. That doesn’t need to stop you though. Knowing that these potential distractions are there, you just need to find ways of countering them. You might turn your phone off; train in another room and ask not to be disturbed for a few minutes; or exercise in the lounge while the rest of the family watches TV - so long as you focus on your technique while doing each exercise. To get you started, you might consider hiring a personal trainer for a couple of sessions to design a personalized exercise program for you and to teach you how to execute each of the exercises. You could then have the trainer on an ad hoc basis to update your program whenever you feel it is getting too easy. This way you are getting specialist advice along with the benefits of training at home. So, if you are strapped for time and money, but still desire a healthy body – give home training a try… For further information on how to get started with your home training program, contact Bronwen. |
